Information On Ear Abnormality & Correction

If treatment is initiated within the first two weeks of life, 2-3 weeks of therapy with the InfantEar™ System can dramatically and permanently improve your patient’s outer ear appearance and function.

Everyday, approximately 30 percent of all infants are born with a congenital ear deformity. There are several common deformities that either make your baby’s ear seem very pointy or abnormally shaped. Some ears stick out more than they should, these are called prominent ears, while some ear rims appear to be folded down or bent.

Most ear deformities do not cause any medical problems such as hearing loss, however children with ear deformities are frequently bullied and many of them wind up having corrective surgery as they turn 5 or 6 years of age.

We recommend that you do not get the ear molding device wet.  You can wash around the device.  When feeding your baby, avoid formula and breast milk from dripping down into the device. If it does get wet, it may loosen, come off, or the skin may become irritated (similar to a diaper rash).
